MJAZZ presents the MPOD series

“The music policy – as always with the label – is to be progressive and not be constrained by boundaries or genres” – Tony “Justice” Bowes

The MPOD series is a critically acclaimed podcast series, published by the forward-thinking indie label Modern Urban Jazz (MJAZZ). Featuring a plethora of artists, producers, djs, collaborators, affiliates and friends of MJAZZ, coming from all over the globe, the MPOD installments are characterized by an eclectic cross-genre selection, covering a wide palette of exhilarating and experimental electronic music, abolishing all musical stereotypes.

Initially conceived as a platform for the label and its artists to showcase their influences and promote forthcoming material, the series quickly turned into a fascinating canvas of futuristic rhythms with a retro touch; from drum and bass and hip hop to techno and house, from rare grooves, jazz improvisations and 45’ rarities to anthems and classics, from bleeps to breaks, from ambient textures and cinematic landscapes to video game music and twisted vocals.

“Personally, I’d like to say thanks to all the contributors over the years. The podcasts have been an opportunity for us to show our diversity and what we as a label are all about. These will carry on via our new MJAZZ and (new subsidiary) MUJ Mixcloud pages, the latter concentrating more towards hip hop beats and breaks” – Scott “Metro” London

All the MPOD episodes are listed below in chronological order, starting from June 2009, when the first podcast saw the light of day.
